You may have trouble convincing the carrier (either one) to do anything
about this. Telecom (and I assume optus as well) ony guarantee their voice
grade lines to data rates up to 2400 dps. (Yes, I haven't slipped a
decimal point anywhere). Anything else is considered a bonus.
