Ordinarily, news servers are configured to only allow NNTP connections from
within your domain. If you want to access, say, news.uow.edu.au you'll need
to negotiate permission with uow to gain access from a particular machine or
machines to their news server. Once you have done that, you generally don't
require keys or passwords.
