The ancient SMD disks are on the way out. /hovel is as good as gone and
it looks as if the others won't be far behind. Ftoomsh lately has been
panicing each time one of the disks packs it in. It then reboots and
drops into single user mode waiting for someone to repair the disk.
This has been the main source of outages.

User accounts will end up on SCSI but it will take a few weeks for the
shuffle to complete.
