The NSW government has some truly scary plans for Internet censorship
(see http://www.efa.org.au/Campaigns/NSWpress.release.html). They plan
to ban _any_ material unsuitable for children (anything MA rated or
above) from _anywhere_ on the Internet (including private email). They
are talking about$25 000 and prison sentences, too. I have spoken by
phone with someone in the Attorney General's office and this is not a
joke -- if they can't get the other States to follow suit they intend
to proceed alone.
A protest march has been organised by Electronic Frontiers Australia.
Meet 12 noon Monday May 27th, Sydney Domain
March on Parliament House at 1pm
Wear blue ribbons (symbol of free speech)
Pass the word around as widely as possible (and turn up yourselves!).

We have no First Amendment and no organisation with the clout of the ACLU,
so it is important that we stop this before it happens.
