merit or personal taste? - democracy is nice in theory but..

I seem to remember 5 second year students (myself included) who turned up
to the AGM last year (attendence 20 ish?) for the sole purpose of voting a
particular person into (and therefore keeping a certain someone else out)
of an elected position *:)*

The only thing stopping a first year from bringing 15 friends along
and becoming president is that not that many of them are members, on the
mailing list, and endowed with enough friends :)

Democracy is a wonderful thing, lets not start stuffing around with it
by giving the minorities equal rights.

Seriously though, I hope that progsoc elections never degenerate into the
kind of self serving shit that union elections have become.

We do _seem_ to have a good thing going here (despite some faults)
so lets take care of it.

smile!!

Perhaps we can have an election in the middle of each year instead?
That way at least everybody will be in someones picture, relatively
speaking.

Thanks,
James.
