Doom-people,

This is the official announcement for the Progsoc Doom Competition.
After careful consideration, it has been decided to run the Doom Competition
on SOCS Indy workstations. If you intend entering and your name is not on
the list below, please mail me (not the list) with the subject "DOOM Entry"
ASAP. We will probably be able to accept entries on the night, but if we get
too many people, you may not be able to enter.

Competition structure: Round-Robin/Knockout - 2 player games.
Entrants will be assigned a player number (out-of-the-hat-randomness) and
will proceed to play three games against opponents. Each game will be of
five minutes duration (number of players dependant). The winner is assigned
two points, the loser nothing. A draw in frags. will result in a point each.
At the end of three games the top four players (in terms of points) will go
into a knockout competition. If there are draws on points, either a two minute
play-off will be arranged or frag. totals will be used. The knockout between
the top four players will consist of the first player two accumulate two
wins (game duration: 5 minutes). The two winners will play-off for the title
in the best of three 10 minute games.

If that sounded complicated, just be glad that u're not the one
trying to work it all out :) This method allows for "bad games" and should
avoid new players going up against good players (like the author of the wad)
all the time.

Location (mainly for non-city campus people): Building 4, Room 239.
