Hi guys -

*** Introduction

The programming competition is speeding toward us like a freight train,
in fact applications are due Friday. Although we didn't get enough
interest for a ProgSoc team earlier, the situation has changed... read on...

SoCS itself had organised to enter 2 teams, and have UTS as a site for
the competition. A coupla days ago, the ACM people told Jenny that due
to their own admin. problems, UTS couldn't be a site this year... that
leaves SoCS short of cash for the 2 teams they have trained up.. which
(as you may have guessed) is when Jenny came to Daniel came to us for HELP!

*** Team 9 From Outer Space

The team that doesn't get to go at the moment is made up of Andrew Wilson,
Peter Meric and Chris Holland - who are all ProgSoc members. What the
school needs to know is if ProgSoc can pitch in for $300 of team costs
(which is about half the cost), so they can get to Melbourne and go in it.

As it turns out, Andrew may not be able to attend, and so the team will
probably need another member as well.

Now, obviously we would prefer if we could choose our own members through
our own competition, and send these... we don't have enough time for that
now, and no-one organised a ProgComp this year (Hey, don't look at me, I
was working!).

*** No-one expects the Inquisition!

The question I want to put to you IS...

Do you think we should find it in the goodness of our collective ProgSoc Heart
and send the team off? The amount of money is not large, and we could almost
certainly bill the team as the PROGSOC Team :-)

We could also have some say as to who goes in the team (as long as we are
organised by Friday).

I'm sure Jenny would also appreciate it and feel goodly about
returning the favour sometime (like letting us use SoCS for our own
programming competitions/DOOM play-a-thons, etc.)

Please, everyone start talking in a mad rush BUT remember we have to
decide in the next couple of days, so indicate your favourability (or
lack thereof) plainly.

Ryan
