I think initially everyone who wants in should be trained, who ever
lasts longests will have done lots of work towards the competition and
have shown that they are not mere dilettantes looking for a trip to wherever.

Plus, the sort of training that could be imagined would be useful for
anyone doing this degree. Perhaps SOCS or ProgSoc would supply lecturers
on various areas covering both theory and (quick) implementation.
